Lights, Camera, Gore

UPDATE - well I never got raped or murdered in the woods but that's probably down to the fact that the shoot had to be put on hold due to an actor pulling out the day before we were due to shoot Whickwood so Steve is now stuck searching for another actor to fill the part. Jeeves is visiting this weekend so we can really get all the planning in place before we shoot his film at the beginning of September.

ORIGINAL - Other than '3 Pointer' and 'The Shepard things have been pretty quiet for me recently on the short film front. Now I'll be the first person to admit I've been quite lazy when it comes to getting projects off the page and onto the screen. This year however I decided I really needed to get my ass in gear, and having a load of new equipment has really encouraged me.

So I got a message off my friend James 'Jeeves' Chappell who I haven't seen in at least 5 years asking if I'd ever heard of the '2 days later' horror festival my only reply had to be "Na mate" The idea is that you have 48 hours to shoot and edit a 10 minute horror film that needs to include 3 out of 5 items/phrases from a list. Jeeves being the horror man that he is has written a film and asked me to DOP on the project, so here we go this is the start of the next project. Now I've never actually worked on a horror film before but it's one of those things I think all of us would like to do at one point or another. It's probably the little kid inside of me who always used to love watching films they weren't supposed to like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street. Then going to school the next day and talking about it with your friends and trying to act like you weren't scared in the slightest (Candyman shit me up a treat) and come on people who doesn't at one point or another want to make some GORE

So we plan on shooting this film in the first week of September and we're currently in the planning stages just about to start storyboarding and casting the last few parts. I went on to tell one of my former students Steve Hill (who will be starting uni in September to study script writing..good luck mate) about the competition, like some kind of smack fueled bunny he went straight home and wrote his own film 'Whickwood' for the competition and then went about casting it. Now this whole thing has pretty much had a turn around of about 2 weeks but I've now been asked to come along and DOP on this project as well, and when are we shooting I hear you ask......well next week of course. Yeah so there we go by mid September I expect myself to be well experienced in the world of horror film making.

As with 3 Pointer I'll attempt to keep you updated on the project through the productions and into post and maybe share with you any useful bits of info I pick up along the way.

Well off we go next Friday, on the shoot......in the dark......in the woods. What could possibly go wrong

Well anyway

I'LL BE RIGHT BACK
